Dear Families of Cecil Sly Elementary,

Welcome families our staff is very excited to begin another great school year!  Your custodial staff did an outstanding job of preparing the school.  The halls and classrooms look great for the kids.  The coyote tracks are freshly painted and the entire staff at Cecil Sly is ready for students to fill the halls and the year to begin.

This 2012-2013 school year presents some positive additions and adjustments to our team.   New to Sly this year will be:

Mrs. Kortni Papineau – 5th Grade Teacher
Kathleen McCarthy – Speech Pathologist
Meike Williams – District Wide Elementary Interventionist
Angelia Wagner – Kindergarten Teacher
Diane Prink – Assistant Special Education

We are very fortunate add these professionals to the Cecil Sly team.

Other exciting changes in our building include Mrs. Johnson joining third grade and Mrs. Brooks moving to the fourth grade team. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Durham are part of the first grade team with Ms. Toler at second grade.

This will be a particularly exciting year as your staff at Sly will work to incorporate a variety of topics /themes to students.  We are dedicated to bring the best core instruction in reading, math and writing.  We are also excited to integrate music, art, technology, science, performance and more.  The whole team will be utilizing the last hour of every day to bring these very important experiences to the lives of our kids.

Our school is ready to take any challenge and turn it into a positive.  This is true for our Positive Behavior Support advancement, technology integration, grade level teamwork, and our professional relationships.  Join us this year in shaping our school and community to its potential.  Your involvement and support will make all the difference as we work together to help our students achieve their best.

From your Principal,

Jim Bates
