Max Fahlgren examines a tree core to age a ponderosa pine as Cheyenne Young looks on during a Forest Measurements Field Day hosted by the Ochoco National Forest Timber Sale Crew. Students in the Forest Management class at Crook County High School were applying statistical skills in forest inventory by learning how to measure height, age, diameter at breast of individual trees and then to calculate basal area and trees per acre from fixed and variable radius plots from a timber cruising sampling design.
