Crook County School District Nutrition Services and Oregon State University Nutrition conduct Lunch Menu Surveys
In a collaborative effort, CCSD Nutrition Services and Oregon State University Nutrition have been conducting Lunch Menu Surveys with 5th graders at Crooked River Elementary. Students are asked to rate menu items on flavor, texture, overall appeal and whether they would choose it again. Students are also asked what improvements could be made if they didn’t like the item. This information will be used to modify recipes and to help plan how often each entrée will be on the menu, or whether it should be left off completely. Each class discusses what kind of entrees can be made that are compliant with National School Lunch Program regulations and makes suggestions for new items. One suggested item, Cowboy Pizza, will be on the February menu.
