BBE Students take part in Ribbon Cutting at Barnes Butte Outdoor Activity Area

On Wednesday, October 25, all students at Barnes Butte went for a short walk just north of the school. As you may be aware, the City of Prineville has recently purchased several hundred acres around Barnes Butte to develop as an outdoor activity area for the community. All schools have been invited to offer ideas for the development. The official dedication was conducted on October 13th. It rained and snowed so we agreed to schedule a re-do for students. Barnes Butte students represented the school community well with nearly all 650 kids in attendance for a fun ribbon cutting. Many classes added in a walk around the old Hudspeth horse race track and then returned to the school campus. We are grateful to our City leadership for the commitment for outdoor recreation and engaging the schools.
