Barnes Butte first graders help release bluegill fish

Barnes Butte Elementary School first graders have kicked off their spring storyline, Wetlands.  They have accepted the challenge to become ‘stewards’ and ‘professors’ of the Crooked River Wetlands.  The City of Prineville has partnered with Barnes Butte first graders to help enrich their learning.  On April 8th the City invited the first graders to help release bluegill fish into the ponds.  They learned that the bluegill will help control the mosquito and gnat population.  They also learned how to acclimate the baby fish to their new home.  They can’t wait to visit the Wetlands to learn more!
