2nd Graders at Crooked River Elementary Learn about Ocean Conversation

No permission slips were needed for this field trip. These 2nd graders at Crooked River Elementary are learning about ocean conversation. They were asked by the Mermaid, ‘Kiniro’ (who is a character in Jan Brett’s book, “The Mermaid”) to become marine biologists to help save the coral reefs where she lives. In order to help the Mermaid, the students have been researching coral reefs, animals that live in them, what is happening to them, and how they can help save them. To help with the research, Kiniro the Mermaid invited the students on a virtual reality field trip to see observe coral reefs. At the end of their storyline, they will publish a book about coral reef conservation.
