Search and Rescue Dog Sniffs out Fossils and Eggs

Search and rescue dog sniffs out fossils and eggs

Crooked River Elementary teacher Ms. Bryant has started a dinosaur storyline with her kindergarten students.

Her friend Lori Blackburn, of Crook County Sheriff Search and Rescue, trains search and rescue dogs and needed to expose her new dog, Cagney, to different situations with kids.

Even though a real paleontologist might not use a dog to sniff out fossils, Ms. Blackburn hid real fossils in the field behind the school. Cagney found three fossil bones and a nest of eggs, much to the students’ delight.

They will now research fossils and open a dinosaur museum in their classroom after completing the research.
