National Young Readers Week – November 7 -11, 2016

principal reading to students

Since 1989, National Young Readers Week has been an annual event held during the second week of November to raise awareness around the importance of reading. The event was co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Crooked River Elementary principal, Cheri Rasmussen, accepted the challenge and read her heart out all day long, from the first bell to the last during National Young Readers Week. Mrs. Rasmussen’s theme was animal farm.  She brought in her daughter’s stuffed animals so that the students can snuggle with an animal while she read to them. “The joy on the faces of our students when they got to pick an animal was priceless.” – Mrs. Rasmussen
