NWCA 2018 Head Coach of the Year

Congratulations are in order…The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) for the state of Oregon just announced the 2018 Head Coach of the Year is Jake Huffman!

Head Coach Jake Huffman and Crook County HS had a phenomenal season. His team won its 5th 4A state title in 6 years with 11 state placers, 7 finalists, and 2 champions. This year the Crook County Cowboys were 17-0 in dual meets placing 1st in the Oregon Classic 4A Dual Championships. The Cowboys also won the Reser Tournament in Beaverton, the North Bend Coast Classic and, the Perry Burlison Wrestling Classic. Since arriving at Crook County 8 years ago, Coach Huffman‘s teams have placed 3rd, 4th, 2nd and have earned five state championships. They have also won the Regional title each year. Crook County’s current dominance has much to do with Coach Huffman. Huffman has been coaching at the high school level since 2003 as an assistant or head wrestling coach. Congratulations to Jake Huffman as Oregon’s NWCA Head Coach of the Year for 2018
