Update from Dr. Johnson

Dear Valued Families,

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for pushing through the final weeks of the school year and Learning @ Home. It has been an eventful spring, and I’m so incredibly grateful for our parents, students, and all the wonderful staff who helped us get to the finish line.

Some of you have been asking us on Facebook and through email about plans for next year. Here’s what I can tell you: Crook County School District plans to open all schools Tuesday, September 8th and provide the educational experience you expect. We also have developed contingency plans so we can educate all students in case there’s a spike in Covid-19 cases or if the Governor’s Office directs otherwise.

Another important question is about options for families and students who may be concerned about returning to school for health concerns or who have come to enjoy learning at home. One of our priorities is to provide superior customer service, so we’re going to be offering alternative learning options for families this fall. This could include remaining fully online at home or a combination of learning opportunities that provide families with greater flexibility and choice.

Crook County High School already offers an online option that is self-paced and allows students to develop their own schedule and still access school athletics and activities. Our goal is to offer even more options to families with students in elementary, middle, and high school. We will work with students in all grade levels and tailor an experience that’s unique to each individual child.

The school district plans to hold a series of community forums this summer and we’d like your feedback. The first forum is an online event this Friday, June 12th at 3:30pm via Zoom and the school district’s Facebook page. It will also cover plans for reopening schools in September.

As always, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We’d love to hear how Crook County School District can best serve our families.
